There are snails in my belly

I pursuit of my goal of eating five new foods this summer I have thus far tried camel, boar and today, escargot. I need some suggestions on what to try next as I am running out of summer. It should be foods that I could actually eat in Canada and I'd prefer no one suggest bugs. The snails were hard enough for me to wrap my head around, even covered in cheese!

Assuming that I have eaten all the regular western diet foods (Canadian and British), I've compiled a list of meats I've had already: Elk, Bison, Venison, Caribou, Moose, Emu, Ostrich, Llama, Alligator, Shark, Lamb, Mutton, Rabbit, Squid, Octopus, Goat, Duck and Pheasant. There was also a cat "incident," but I don't usually talk about that.

I usually am quite interested in trying anything new at least once, so don't be afraid to suggest more than two things.

Quahogs, or Paloude sp?, as our Acadians call them. Like a big clam that they like to eat raw like an oyster or you can buy the really big ones already cooked in a jar. Similar to oyster but not as sweet and a little more rubbery. Salty good.

Have you tried ostrich? I found it rather greasy.

Try groundhog and porcupine. Groundhog is good as long as you are careful to get rid of the oil glands in the legs without getting any on the meat.
Porcupine tastes like a pine tree if it isn't cooked right. Boil the meat three times, changing the water completely each time, and then fry or roast it and it becomes palatable.

Go to Nfld and have a big plate of Cod "Tongues 'n Cheeks" a local delicacy!

All good ideas... Thanks so much! Frog and snake are likely candidates because I know of a place I can get them, but I'd also be interested in the COD suggestion or the porcupine/groundhog (except it sounds like I'd have to butcher the ground hog myself... LOL).

Also just realized I've never had quail or quail eggs

I was a vegetarian for 2 years and my MIL is Vietnamese so I have eaten most fruits and veggies I can. I LOE edameme, will eat it for protein in place of meat a lot of times. I'm going to check out Smokin' Iron Farms!

You're Canadian! What about caribou, muktuk, walrus, arctic char, or even seal (many kinds - sometimes it's even cooked!).

Where do you stand on haggis, or various other meat-based puddings?
