Open to the Thrust of Grace

Don’t the hours grow shorter as the days go by
You never get to stop and open your eyes
One minute you’re waiting for the sky to fall
The next you’re dazzled by the beauty of it all

These fragile bodies of touch and taste
This fragrant skin this hair like lace
Spirits open to the thrust of grace
Never a breath you can afford to waste

When you’re lovers in a dangerous time
Sometimes you’re made to feel as if your loves a crime
Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
Got to kick at the darkness ‘til it bleeds daylight
When you’re lovers in a dangerous time

These lyrics jumped out at me on the bus today. Each line of the song a truth that impacted my awareness of events in my life. Whether the experience is of actual love, politics, religion, busy hurried schedules or thoughts of our own mortality This is one of those songs that applies to everything - revealing one small truth that if heeded makes life so much better.

Slow down and take some time to really see how good life is all around you, while you have the chance to.

Thank you for reminding me of how much I love Bruce Cockburn's music, Allie.

LOL. Umm your welcome. I sort of have to admit though, I used the Barenaked Ladies cover since I like it better (and some of the words are a wee bit different). But hey, it's a good song :-)
