Do we really believe everything we read/hear?

Given my intrinsic mistrust of the corporate media, I'm not surprised that the recently reported Metallica E & F chord lawsuit is a complete hoax. Elements of the story actually didn't make sense, but apparently that didn't matter to the majority of people, including so called legitimate media outlets.

In an age where information travels so fast, when we are bombarded daily by so many different messages, through so many different mediums, why do people choose to be gullible rather than skeptical? A healthy skepticism is the chastity belt of the intellect! We certainly go a long way to expanding our own intelligence when we consider and challenge everything we are confronted with rather then accepting it as gospel truth.

This isn't 1938 any more, people.
