Apparently not Conservative Enough

The Blogging Tories won't include me in their blogroll.

"Allie,

we have a strict policy on multiple Canadian partisan blogrolls. If you'd like to be included on the Blogging Tories blogroll, we don't accept blogs that also have the green bloggers / progressive bloggers / blogging dipper blogrolls on their blogs. We add conservative blogs. If your blog is indeed conservative please consider dropping the other blogrolls.
"

Well I am NOT about to have anyone dictate to me about what content I post or what links I include on MY blog and I am certainly NOT going to justify why I do something to anyone.

When I was at the Legislature in session on Thursday the Speaker was announcing an award that was being given to a boy in grade six. He quoted the boy (who's family had come here from overseas just before he was born) as saying "one of the great things about democracy in this province is that everyone can aspire to be the Prime Minister of this country." Everyone. And it's true. It's not like that everywhere.

So... I don't want to be in their club anymore. Watch out everyone, it's the Conservative Police.

On day to day matters you're probably conservative. But on things that matter, the social and cultural issues that shape our times, I think you're far more liberal (and I mean the ideology, not necessarily the party).

In theory it's perfectly acceptable to take bits from each side. In our party system, however, taking one side usually means disowning the other.

And isn't it the big issues that determine your character?

Well I obviously can't be closed minded enough for everyone now, can I?

Happy birthday btw :-)

While we may not agree on our politics (I am a center-Liberal), you have the full freedom to post what you want on your blog, and link/publicize any other blogs.

Funny - I always thought conservative/liberal-ness of a blog was measured by content of a blogger's posts, not their links.

You should ask the Konservative Kops why some of their other members have those same blogrolls on their site if this policy is strict like they claim.

Hmmm, facist wanna-be's?

But that is just the liberal in me speaking out. Plus I just saw 'V for Vendetta'.

I echo Robert's comment.. I'm curious when they implemented that policy, because I have several members of the Bogging Tories also as Progressive Blogger members.. and I'd heard of nothing about a problem of being members of both.

Stephen usually comes off as being more reasonable.. I wondered what got added to his food for him to turn into a puritan when it came to blogrolls.

"No point debating the issues if you can't find the other side."

But, why would you issue such a statement like that to Allie, Stephen? Really, what was your basis for such a decision? I really want to know how you arrived at such a policy and based on what criteria if it clearly doesn't apply to everyone on the blogroll. Why did you make this exception to Allie's request in the first place? I believe she is owed an exlanination to along with the empty apology. We all want to know, in fact. Enquiring minds and all that. And please be honest in your answer. Don't try to hide behind chinese food and elders. You chose to discriminate and that's now allowed, nor is it right or acceptable. Are you still in kindergarden???

I demand you be immediately removed from the blogroll. You can be re-instated when you let us see the rest of that tatoo...

That response used the term "blog" or some derivative *** 12 times*** in four sentences.
Frightening!

Um, er, welcome to the Blogging Tories. I love your Blog graphics. The resemblance is amazing, just kidding, I think. Blog on.

wow. talk about a John Kerry style flip flop...

So, are you going to take them up on their sudden change of heart?

;-)

sorry, I should have called it a "David Emerson" style flip flop! ;-)

Dave, I would say what Emerson did wasn't flip flopping as much as it was self serving and deceitful. He is clearly a self-centred prig, that whore, that prostitute, that dipstick! I say he should fit in quite well with the Stephens' lot.

I appreciate all of the support - as a result this is not a policy that will be enforced.

I have accepted Stephen's apology. He even seems like a really nice guy. I have been added to the Blogging Tories blogroll. We are all friends here, this is our community and we should protect it even where and when we disagree.

An d no, thats not a graphic of me. That means thats not my tattoo either :-)

Congrat's on getting on the blogroll. The Blogging Tories should strive for diversity in their bloggers.

Tories as a whole, on and OFFline, should strive for diversity period. Canadians, as a whole, are very central, so if Tories think they are going to be loved for the next four years plus based on their policies, they are clearly smoking too much pot. Oh, wait... only us crazy Liberals and socialist NDPers and Green Party members do that. I forgot. Sorry about that dude. Too much sucking on the whacky tobaccy has me spacing out again.

It seems to me if you want to defend your right to put what you want on your blog, you ought to respect thier right to exclude sites from thiers. Seems logical enough to me.
