He brought to attention the many injustices African-Americans faced and unlike some leaders such as Malcolm X he abhored violence and advocated through peaceful protest. He also talked about blacks and whites uniting, not about trying to spew his grievances and hate against them. In many ways he embodied, America's promise in its truest sense that all men were created equal and wanted to see that this dream was achieved.
